Abstract

This review paper summarises our current state of knowledge on the use of coronary CT angiography (CCTA) for assessing coronary stenosis, use of anatomical CCTA combined with functional CT to assess for myocardial ischemia, as well as using CCTA for detection of high risk plaque and plaque burden. We currently still have some difficulty to convert the currently available extensive research findings into clinical practice. There also remains gaps in our knowledge regarding clinical use of CCTA that will require newer more innovative future technological advances in both hardware and software, as well as more multicentre trials to better enable CCTA to be used in clinical decision making.
